The Organisational Process Of Buying A Train Ticket

This essay uses technological determinism to analyse the organisational process of buying a train ticket. In particular, I will be looking at concepts such as the rate of diffusion, the technological agency and also the views of hard and soft technological determinism. Smith and Marx (1998:14) describe technological determinism as â€Å"the human tendency to create the kind of society that invests technologies with enough power to drive history†. This definition of technological determinism can be related to the process of buying a train ticket as this essay shows how organizations used technology to make this process more efficient and as a result, changed the way that society buys train ticket, which became the ‘norm’ now. LJ (2004:617) believe that technological determinism represent the belief that the progress of society is driven by technological innovation and this has an inevitable path. Society will evolve and adapt to these new technological changes. The way that society has changed their ways of buying train tickets and how they view buying it online is the way forward, can be best shown by the quote from LJ. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (The Academy) refers to this as the total diet approach to healthy eating. This approach is based on the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The total diet is defined as, â€Å"the combination of foods and beverages that provide energy and nutrients and constitute an individual s complete dietary intake, on average, over time.†1 The total diet approach emphasizes that all foods can be included in a healthy diet, as long as they are in moderation and fall within their caloric limits. Under the total diet approach, foods should not be labeled as good or bad. Giving such label to a food tends to create a black or white thinking when it comes to eating healthy and ultimately resulting in an emphasis placed on individual foods or nutrients. While growing up in an environment that was more conducive to pain and suffering than to enjoying life it was easier to challenge believers to show me God then to actually see Him around me. I’d say, â€Å"close your Bible and prove to me God exists. † I always received one of three responses. And there are negative or positive consequences associated with freewill. Just as there are negative and positive consequences associated with rejecting or accepting Christ. During a particularly despondent time in my life, a friend offered me a Bible, some rather persuasive advice, and a pastor’s phone number. She said Christ would help me, but I needed to ask him into my life and for him to help me. So I began reading the Bible, and I called the pastor. If I asked a question, he answered it knowledgably. And I began praying. Gradually my mood and outlook on life did change. God is everywhere, but he first has to live in the heart.
